While PC owners have been gushing over the new Medic achievements and weapons upgrades in Team Fortress 2, patrons of the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 Orange Box have gone without any non-technical updates. Valve Software marketing director Doug Lombardi told Shacknews that information on the downloadable content for Xbox 360 is forthcoming.
“How and when is still sort of being determined, on pricing and that kind of stuff. On the PC it’s sort of wide open, you can release stuff whenever you want. On the console there’s a little bit more of a pathway,” he said, later adding, “Unfortunately I don’t know that any of that will make it to the PS3.” Valve did not port Orange Box to the PS3 in-house, instead giving it to EA UK - trust us, that’s a good story to read up on.

The third (well, second for North America) piece of downloadable content for Lost Odyssey is about to arrive on the US/Canada Xbox Live Marketplaces today. We talked about it before, but in case you don’t remember for 400 Microsoft Points ($5) you get an extra dungeon. The Seeker of the Deep (aka Seeker of the Abyss) package brings Kaim into an underwater area with new monsters and items not found in the regular game. One of them is the Eternal Magic Engine, an accessory that removes MP costs from all skills. Yes, immortals can learn the ability essentially making them even more overpowered.
While no further Lost Odyssey content has been announced in any other region there is one content package absent from the US Xbox Live Marketplace. Microsoft gave out cards with a code to unlock the Master’s Secret Scroll and the additional dream sequence as a pre-order bonus in North America. However, this content has yet to appear on the US Xbox Live Marketplace. Meanwhile, it’s available in other regions and the downloadable content is completely compatible with the US version.

Considering the fanboys get all uppity when we say that there’s nothing in the PSN update for the week, we’ll temper it by saying The Con is available for $20 on the PSP. For PS3 owners, there’s the European Rock Band DLC tracks and the PixelJunk Monsters music album for $3. Let’s just end this post and get out clean while we still can. The full North American PSN update can be found after the break.
The European PSN update is located in the land of PS3 Fanboy.

I didn't really announce this change, so I wanted to officially put it out there…
Remember Microblogging? (you have to be logged in) You put in a game… while you are playing it, you go to your computer… the site will know you are playing it and let you make a comment on the game as well as locking in your streak. This also makes it so demos and betas can appear in your blog and you will get credit for playing the… I have slightly extended this:
- You can now microblog without a game in the drive… this allows you to create a manually entry about anything you want. It also makes the blog a little more versatile.
- If you put a game in and try and blog, we will properly explain what your current status is… we don't let you blog a game if you are marked as "away" while in the title… but at least now it will tell you what status is appearing so you know.
I also added an RSS feed for weekly recaps only… so if you just want to get those notifications about yourself or a person, you can. Check out your share page to see that.

Gears of War 2 designer Cliff “Don’t Call Me CliffyB” Bleszinski (note: yes, we have turned his name into a text macro to avoid misspellings) has confirmed with Microsoft’s Gamerscore blog that the squad-based commands of the original game have been axed for the sequel.
Bleszinski also talked about the chainsaw vs. chainsaw system, which is not random like the original but based on whoever hits the B button the most. “I didn’t want it to be quick time event because I think I’m kind of tired of those in most games,” he said. In the video embedded above, he also talked about the use of the crowd system for epic battles and what he likes to label the “summer blockbuster type video game experience.” Gears of War 2 is due this November.

After Mario Kart Wii, everything seems to be wheelized. Wheels for the Wii just pop up like mushrooms everywhere. Looking at the cover, I thought we got a Disney’s Cars game with a driving wheel but there’s only a white driving wheel (plus a stand) inside. Not very impressive. $19.99 if you want to add more wheels to your Wii treasure trove.

In order to remain competitive with Harmonix’s pre-existing multi-instrument rockstar simulator, Activision’s upcoming entry in their insanely lucrative franchise, Guitar Hero: World Tour, needs to match the price of the game it so closely resembles, Rock Band. According to a recent listing on Gamestop, it’ll do just that — the game alone will cost $59.99 on PS3 and 360 ($49.99 on Wii and PS2), a “guitar kit” bundle will run you $99.99, and the full band kit (which we assume will contain a guitar, a mic, and a drum kit) will run you $189.99 on 360, Wii and PS3, and $179.99 on PS2.
If these prices are accurate, you’ll be paying $20 more for Activision’s bundle than Harmonix’s — perhaps their five-piece drum kit costs more to produce than Rock Band’s four-head. We don’t mind shelling out the extra Jackson to get our hands on Activision’s new skins — the thousands of dollars we’ll spend expanding our living room to contain two fake drum kits and four fake guitars, however, may have a noticeable impact on our finances.
[Thanks, Hashbrown Hunter.]

See? It’s not just about flipping out and killing people and slashing enemies into the air and tossing shurikens into their faces and lopping off limbs and doing totally sweet combos like that one where you kick the guy in the head before chopping him into pieces and then running up the wall because you’re the ultimate unstoppable mammal. Sometimes you just have to calm down and defend yourself. If the sage advice conveyed by the above video isn’t enough, you have until June 3rd to view the clips after the break and get educated on the ways of the ninja.
Remember: Ninjas fight ALL the time.
