It’s another morning at work. Through the elevator door that needs oil, past that infernal clock that runs too fast, the faint smell of bitter coffee and carpet freshener wafting in from the kitchen, where the muffled laughter of office banter begins to overcome the soft hum of the computers. You are home - away from home; warm, familiar and secure, until you see the note politely requesting you to attend an unscheduled meeting in the boss’s office, you never saw it coming.

Sure, there had been somber talk about belt tightening, budget cuts, and downsizing at head office which you cautiously regarded with slightly more interest than the latest cancer statistics or a hurricane in Florida. After all, what about that last promotion, the Christmas bonus and the report showing improvement over last year’s numbers that you carried around like a suit of armour, complete with rose-coloured glasses.

Fifteen minutes later you emerge from the meeting a mass of aching, quivering emotion. The kind that puts a clamp on your heart that makes it hard to swallow - shocked, angry, frustrated, humiliated, and above all, rejected; The feeling of being on the outside looking in and unable to make sense of it all, like an unrequited love; The usual dry apologies, best wishes for the future, half- hearted assurances that you will land on your feet strangely coming from the very people that have just shattered your well being into little pieces; The same people to whom you gleefully donated your heart and soul for the past twelve years.

Recent studies have confirmed many times - the loss of a job is the fourth single most devastating event to an individual’s emotional well being - just after death of a child , parent and divorce. Indeed, the symptoms of reactive depression which affect many who unexpectedly lose their employment - sleeplessness, anxiety, lack of appetite, indecision and irritability - closely resemble a person in mourning.

For many, the initial shock and humiliation quickly ripens to a sense of exploitation and outrage. The desire to strike back at your former employer, who so callously ripped away your family’s economic security is predicable and overwhelming.

The legal system is ready and waiting; always able to accommodate those people suffering financial misfortune, who are willing to take the risk, at the appropriate price.

Actually, there is no better time to sue one’s employer. Nearly forty years of litigation has produced a definitive and reliable regime which presently leans heavily in favour of the wrongfully dismissed employee - the only truly innocent litigant. In fact, when an employee is dismissed without cause and for reasons of “restructuring”, “downsizing”, lay-off or some other economic reason, the issue is not whether the employee is entitled to compensation, but how much. Depending on an employee’s age and position, the current “rule of thumb” is one month’s remuneration per every year of service, plus commensurate employment benefits - just for starters.

In practice, you see it all; the father who uncharacteristically begins to physically discipline, the mother who neglects her young children, the financial crises, breakdown in marital relations, the gambling, the person who walks into the shower and stays long after the hot water tank runs empty.

Unfortunately, the legal response can only supply a temporary superficial resolution - there are always longer lasting far-reaching consequences.

In reality, generous “heart balm” payments obtained through settlement or the Courts, are ill- suited to deal with the real agonizing effects of a sudden, unplanned termination of employment. Much like the impotence of the Family Law Courts in dealing with the raw emotions on marital breakup, there is always the lack of self-worth, the insecurity and the burning anger born out of rejection, which cannot be extinguished by monetary compensation.

For employers, the process in no picnic either. Whether it is the guilt-ridden principal of a family-run business reluctantly letting go loyal staff that have been with the firm since inception or a multi-national corporation, being pilloried -by the press after a massive cost cutting “restructuring”, the experience is always painful. Most of the time it is the sadness and empathy one human being feels when giving someone else bad news. The result is a free fall in morale, rifling through an organization like some new virulent strain of the flu.

Then there is the cost. Employers who steadfastly ignore the recent developments in the law, and proceed to handle the termination in an overly frugal antiseptic manner, without regard to the emotional effects on the departing employee, can expect to pay tens of thousands to defend the inevitable lawsuits - usually to no avail. In the end, they will only throw more money at the problem until the employee goes away grumbling.

And, therein lies the mystery - that no one has conceived a practical solution to thus eternal sea of conflict until now.

The most effective defense that an employer can raise in any wrongful dismissal action is that the departing employee has found a comparable job prior to the expiry of the assessed notice period.

Accordingly, it is well established in our law that the employee is legally bound to exert all reasonable efforts to find a job. This is the so-called mitigation doctrine.

To most employees, after the shock of the dismissal wears off, the natural instinct to find a replacement to the income they had just lost is overwhelming.

Given the above, the two parties should be walking down the same road with the same objectives. Unfortunately, in the current confrontational atmosphere, the system encourages the parties to begin to knock heads - often as a result of benign neglect to address the mitigation issue in a meaningful way.

The most benevolent employers will attempt to address the problem by engaging “relocation” counselling plans, often at very high cost per individual terminated employee. The services provided by even the best of these old style firms - resume preparation, provision of office contacts and equipment - are limited. In this day and age of home P.C.’s and the Internet, the efforts and expense are wasted. The employee’s perception is always one of tokenism and resentment for an obviously half-hearted gesture. Moreover, there is always the suspicion that the firms are operating on the employer’s agenda, not attuned to the dismissed employee’s real needs.

There is, however, a small cadre of new style employment transition firms that developed from the Employment Assistance Program (E.A.P.) concept in the U.S. These firms provide traditional job search services with computer-generated resume presentation, financial advice, self- employment marketing and most importantly, stress/crisis counselling on a one-to-one basis. This is a truly effective way of addressing the problem faced by both parties in a direct way. It shows the employee that the company has not dropped him like unwanted baggage; it addresses, not solves, the significant emotional turmoil caused by the termination and provides a viable and effective means of obtaining alternate employment so that the employee can “mitigate” the loss, thereby reducing the severance the employer must pay. The cost for these services to the company are equal to, if not lower, than the traditional relocation counselling firms and can be structured into the severance package on a tax-free basis.

If the aforementioned is not enough of an endorsement for this new approach, employers should take note of the recent Ontario Court of Appeal’s decision in Ahmad v. Proctor and Gamble. There, the Court expressly recognized the efforts made by the employer to assist the dismissed employee in finding an alternate job and conducting the termination in a humane and sensitive manner. The damages that the employer paid were substantially reduced in the result, proving the investment in a fair approach to the problem is the best business decision to be made in the circumstances.

Cut The Funk

Phew! All this focus on manifesting, wealth and changing your circumstances can be exhausting. Change requires effort, that’s for sure. Sometimes you can just get sick of it all: sick of trying to be happy, focussed, and positive. You’re now in a funk. Ugh. And you know that you need to get out of it because you don’t want to be vibrating ‘funk’. Double ugh.

So how do you get out of your funk when you really just want to wallow in it for a while?

By all means wallow. For a short time. Just don’t stay there. Staying there would really suck. You deserve better than that.

Now that you’re done wallowing, here are some tricks to get you in the flow again.

Give yourself a break. Don’t be so hard on yourself! You’ve been working hard at resetting your wealth vibration, using manifestation tools, and turning your life around. It’s time to just enjoy yourself for a bit.

Make a list of 100 things that make you feel good. Yup - a whole 100 things. Then go and do five of them.

Here’s my top 10:

1. Be outside. Breathing in fresh air, looking at a blue sky, and being in nature just feels good.

2. Exercise. Even a few minutes can feel good. Moving the body is so releasing and energising. Stretching is my minimum movement when I can’t be bothered to do anything else. Even that feels good!

3. Clean something. There is just something satisfying about clean surfaces and the gleam of shiny chrome.

4. Pat something furry and cuddly, like a cat, dog, or guinea pig. Caring for something more vulnerable than you is a real heart-melter.

5. Music. Music is all energy vibrations, so it is no wonder it has such a profound effect on mood shifting. I love Norah Jones for relaxing, and ABBA for a boogie.

6. Hug someone. Personal contact is lovely. ‘Nuffsaid.

7. Watch a funny movie. Leslie Nielsen movies (Airplane, Police Academy) are so silly it hurts!

8. Read something inspiring and enjoyable. See my blogJ

9. Smile at someone. Watch how their face totally changes when they smile back. Very, very cool.

10. Say a little thank you for all the good stuff and people in your life.

That’s it. Nothing more to do. Just go out and enjoy.

So, you want to have an endless supply of qualified prospects? Not just “qualified real time surveyed mlm leads”…but real educated opportunity buyers (not seekers), who will never say: “let me think about it”, “is this a pyramid?”, “I don’t have any money”, or “I just don’t have enough time”. Aren’t you sick of hearing those lies?

I never deal with those annoying brush-off comments anymore. I know what they are like, and I truly feel your pain! I spent my “hard-time” on the phone for countless hours getting more answering machines than anything else, but not anymore. No one should need to do that anymore. Stop Cold Calling Leads! It’s a painful strategy that makes up the 95% club.

I don’t need to convince anyone that hearing NO 10, 20, or 200 times a day is hard on the psyche, no wonder the attrition levels in these conventional network marketing businesses is so high!

So what do you do about it? How can you just hear the yeses, and talk to people who are worth your time?

I said in the last article; Want Good Qualified MLM Leads? That you wouldn’t like the answer: You need to generate them yourself. Hold On! Don’t run off just yet! It’s not that hard, and the rewards are enormous. Imagine waking up in the morning and checking your email to find out you just had 2 signups from the other side of the world while you were sleeping, and you have never even said hello. That’s what this will do for you. This happens for me all the time!

Even if you have the most amazing: cancer-curing, gas-saving, guaranteed-money-making, clean-anything, old-age-reversing, miracle box no one will buy from you if they don’t know it exists. So, get seen! Lots!

Methods include: Search engines, both Pay-per-click and organic, newspaper ads, magazine ads, article writing, press release, ezines, even TV and radio spots! I recommend a nice blend of these, with an emphasis on search engines and articles.

The first thing you will learn after you advertise; when someone answers your ad it does not mean they are going to buy right there, so you will need to develop a relationship with them. Because most people don’t buy the first time they see your ad, statistics show that it takes about 7 times! Like I mentioned earlier you are not going to start a conversation with them on the phone about the weather, you aren’t even going to need to send out an email. This is all taken care of for you automatically, even if you are out of town.

You will need the next tool in your box called an autoresponder; you can find these all over the internet (just do a Google search). Make sure you actually pay for it though, free versions often will advertise competing ads in your emails, and/or are very limited in what they can do. This will be the most useful weapon in your marketing arsenal, so don’t skimp on this. It allows you to literally forget about your prospects until they contact you because they are ready to buy, or you have a “special offer” to let them in on.

In these emails you are not constantly “pitching” them on your deal, this will get annoying for anybody, and this is the most common mistake made by internet marketers. You will want to position yourself as an expert, and someone who can help them. Often give tips and tricks for how to make money in a generic way, educate them about your industry, give away free software, even a joke once in a while is worth it. That way they will be more likely to read your ad, when it does come.

Now of course the next one is getting trickier all the time. You will want a way to get your prospects to “opt in” to your auto responder. Because of spam complaints and new laws etc, you can’t just buy an old genealogy list of 50 bazillion leads for $10 and start blasting out emails or you will likely loose your ISP!

Using a lead capture page is the option I like best, you are able to drive your prospects to your site and after they put in their info they are yours until they opt out. Don’t just send them to your “corporate site” or you have lost that lead forever. You have heard it a thousand times before; the money is in your list.

If you know html you can build yourself a good lead capture page yourself. But if you are like me, and learning how to build a website is low on your priority list, you can have one built for you. In fact I recommend having several specific ones that you can target to different audiences.

So in this order you want to:
Get/write a good email campaign
Find a good autoresponder (I use response magic)
Build at least one capture page, or have them built
Drive as much targeted traffic as you can to your site.

That’s it, that’s what the top income earners in our industry are doing. That simple 4 step plan that will save you so much time, you will never waste time with a tire-kicker again.

Remember a good plan executed today is WAY better than a perfect plan executed next year. Don’t wait for perfection, it will never happen anyway. You will tweak and improve things along the way, this is a given. The most important thing you can do is implement these strategies now.

Amaze yourself, improve your business, live, love, and laugh! That’s what life is all about, success…whatever that means to you, achieve it.

As defined by the United States Census Bureau, an extreme commute is a daily journey to work that takes more than 90 minutes each way.

According to the bureau, about 2% of American adult workers are so-called “extreme” commuters.[1] Not surprisingly, the number of extreme commuters in the New York, Baltimore, and Los Angeles metropolitan areas is much greater than the national average.

Midas sponsored an “America’s Longest Commute” award in 2006. The winner drove 372 miles (about 4 1/2 hours) to and from work each day.

Well, for starters, I commute an average of 140 miles a day.

So I guess this makes me an extreme commuter. What????????, “Yes, I heard you.” Everyone has the same reaction. It gets even better–I’ve been doing this commute for 22 years.

I live in the Princeton, New Jersey , and work in White Plains, New York. Take a moment and imagination the stress, time, gas, and tolls that being an extreme commuter entails. Before you decide what to sell on the internet. You have to develop an Internet Marketing Strategy that is the essential part of your online success on the Internet.

You have to take into consideration the following:

1. Find a large and easy to reach niche market
2. Find a Product or Service the niche market demands for!
3. Setup your website
4. Have a great sales copy (your 24/7 sales man)
5. Create an opt-in page to collect email address
6. Have a great sales process
7. Make your website scalable and search engine friendly
8. Backend, backend and backend

Each step plays an important to your success in your Internet Marketing Strategy Planning. If even one step is miss out you will not be able to see the results you would like to see as each step is equally important to each other.

1. Find a large and easy to reach niche market

Your first step in your Internet Marketing Strategy planning requires you to do your research and find a large and easy to reach niche market to market your product. What you can do from here is that you go to Free Keywords tools and search for niche keywords that have high click through and low competitions.

Example the keyword “Dog Food For Sale”, when you search that on Google there are actually 5,650,000 which is seriously not a lot of competition but you also have to check is there a demand for it by using tools from www.seobook.com to look at the KEI rate. The higher the KEI rate the better the keyword.

2. Find a Product or Service the niche market demands for!

After you have found 2 or 3 keywords that you would like to target on, you would want to find products that will serve the market that demands for it.

Example like the keyword “Dog Food For Sale”, you would not want to promote Cat Food as it is totally not related to the topic you want to promote about. So find related products like an eBook “where to find great sale for dog food” or dog products that dogs like to eat.

3. Setup your website

After you have decided what product or service you want to sell online, you would want to setup a website to promote your product. The best way to do it is by creating a Blog talking nothing but Dog Food that are for Sale. Because Google and Yahoo search engine loves Blogs so much that you virtually get listed just 24 hours upon updating compared to a normal website, which will take at least a few weeks to be cached into the search engine.

4. Have a great sales copy (your 24/7 sales man)

Do not be mistaken, sales copy is not the sale. A sales copy is a page with descriptions and details to promote your product on your website. When I first heard of this term sales copy I was totally stunted how important it was to have a sales copy.

Depending how good your copy writing skills are, you can get people to write your sales copy or simply teach yourself to write one. If you can try to write it yourself as copy writing is a very good skill to learn especially when you are an Internet Marketer who plans Internet Marketing Strategy.

5. Create an opt-in page to collect email address

This is another important step that many do not have and its the most important. Why? It is because they fail to collect email address from their website. With the email address you can design out your sales process in the next step which I will explain further.

6. Have a great sales process

With your opt-in page in place, you can used the captured email address and name to follow up with people who are interested to know more about what you are promoting in your opt-in page. This way build you list of email list and keep sent them information or promotion products to sell those products again in the future.

7. Make your website scalable and search engine friendly

With all that done, you would now need to read up on Search Engine Optimization. Practicing this will allow search engines like Yahoo and Google to spider your website easily. The good thing about Blogs is that you can ping the search engines to spider your site easily and you can listed very quickly within 24 hours.

8. Backend, backend and backend

Upon completion of all 7 steps, you just need to keep on sent backend information to your list from your opt-in emails that you receive and keep on driving traffic your opt-in page to get more email address to sent out promotion to your customers.

Overcoming Your Husband’s Objections To Telecommuting

If you are an aspiring work from home mom, you may have already heard these common objections from your husband (and perhaps that nagging mother in law):

We shouldn’t have to pay for an extra phone line.
We can’t afford to upgrade the computer.
The company should pay for the transcription equipment.
You will be wasting your time and not making a “real” income.
Why can’t you keep your “real job” / get a “real job”?
So how can you overcome these objections? It’s simple.

The secret is in numbers. Men understand figures and costs.

If you are presently working outside of the home, what kind of expenses do you have?

You may have car insurance on a second car you wouldn’t need. Add in the cost of routine maintenance, gas, repairs, eating out at lunch time, that coffee you grab on the way to work, professional clothing, dry cleaning, a second cell phone, and if you have children, DAYCARE! Note that these expenses are ongoing.

Now compare that to getting started with a telecommuting company as an independent contractor.

Once you have your home office set up, your only monthly expenses will be the added telephone line (if required), high speed internet (most people like to have that anyway), and the electricity you are using (which is a very minimal amount).

Not everyone has these figures readily available, so I thought I would ask my good friend to share her monthly expenses from when she worked outside of the home as compared to what her current expenses are.

Working Outside of the Home

Gas - $78 (drives an average of 30 miles a day, or 650 miles a month)
Insurance on second vehicle - $107
Car payment on second vehicle - $289
Maintenance allowance $7.00 (towards the cost of routine oil changes)
Daycare (1 kid) - $540
Clothing - $60 (towards a yearly budget)
Cell Phone - $80
Lunches - $130 (She ate out roughly three times a week)
Coffee - $76 (She stopped every day at Starbucks for a __mocha)
TOTAL MONTHLY EXPENSES - $1367

INCOME - $2080 at 40 hours per week and $12/hour

PROFIT - only $713 for an entire month!

Working from Home

The car was sold, so she eliminated the costs of gas, insurance, repairs, and the hefty car payments. Her son no longer went to daycare. She could go to work in her sweats, eliminating the need for work wear. She discontinued her cell phone service as soon as the contract was up and she eats lunch at home and makes her own coffee. She is saving a bunch of money!

However, there are a few expenses she now has to include:

High-speed internet - $39
Second phone line - $25
Coffee from home - $20
Lunches at home - $60

Now we will calculate her income at a slightly lower hourly rate, as telecommute jobs typically pay around $9/hour. To be realistic, we will also reduce the working hours to 30, as that is more typical of working from home.

TOTAL MONTHLY EXPENSES - $144

INCOME - $1170 at 30 hours per week

PROFIT - $1026 for an entire month!

What? More profit? Working less hours? What does that ultimately equate to?

Burgandy, France - Famous For Its Wines

The terroir is a group of vineyards or vines from the same area which have a common soil and climate. And nowhere else, other than Burgundy in France, is it held so fondly.

Burgundy is a region situated in central east France, which experiences bitter cold winters matched with beautiful warm summers. It is the home of 1.6 million inhabitants.

Burgundy (Bourgogne) is famous throughout the world for its wines. Spanning over 31,500 square kilometers (over 12,000 square miles), with a 360 km (225 mi) strip stretching 100km (60 mi) south of Paris, down from south of Dijon to north of Rho�ne, houses 99 different wine appellations.

Ranging from the vibrant red Pommard and Corton to the medium Beaune - to the sparkling whites, the dry Chablis or Chassagne Montrachet, over 180 million bottles of some of the fines wines are made in this region.

As an aftermath of the French revolution the vineyards belonging to the monasteries were broken down to smaller plots - which exist even today.

The finest quality wine, designated as “Premier Cru” - is available from 600 of the vineyards in the region while 33 of them is credit to produce the even more classy “Grand Cru” wines. Among these the most renowned are Montrachet, Chambertin and Clos Vougeot.

Made from the pinot noir grapes, the burgundy red wines taste best with Boeuf Bourguignon or pheasant. On the other hand a Chablis or their sparkling white wines go best with anything from shrimps to goat cheese.

The famous white wine called Chablis derives its name from a village of the same name. These are dry whites with an acidity that refreshes. The special Chardonnay grapes thrive in limestone that has been made richer with remains of fossils.

As an accompaniment to lamb or grilled chicken, the best choice is the fruity-flavored, world famous Beaujolais made from the Gamay grape. These grapes grow in granite limestone.

The ever-popular and delicious red is grown in Volnay for the last 8 centuries. The grapes are Pinot Noir grown across 600 acres which is responsible in producing 1.3 million bottles of this amazing wine which has the flavors of raspberries and violets.

And then there is Meursault, located close by, famous for its Premier Cru labels of finest white wines. 2.5 million bottles of the finest wine, Chardonnay, aged anywhere between 3 to 15 years is grown in just over 1000 acres. Fish in white sauce go extremely well with this fine wine with its almond and apple flavors.

But what still makes the headlines is the red Pommard with its tannic and manly flavor, staging a comeback after many years of decline. From just 780 acres of Pinot Noir grown in limestone and red clay are produced 1.8 million bottles of this wine with the flavors of black cherry and black currant. Goes excellent with game venison and roasted red meat with Livarot cheese, these can age from 5 to 15 years.

Whatever your taste buds need, there is very little chance of returning home disappointed with a Burgundy.
