7 Tips for Saving Money on Electricity

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

According to the United States Department of energy, the average household spends about $1,300 on electricity annually. This is a lot of money and things such as the weather; the types of lights used and the frequent use of appliances are the deciding factors.

Can anything be done to make this go down? The answer is yes. By reading these tips, the money saved can be used for other expenses.

1. The weather surely gets hot in the summer. It could go up to 90 degrees or higher and the only way to stay cool is using an air conditioner. People should use curtains and shades to reduce the effort of this appliance in cooling the room under these hot conditions.

The doors and windows in the house must also be closed so the air doesn’t go out enabling it to circulate in the designated area. The filters of this household appliance should be cleaned every 3 months to keep it in good condition.

2. The wattage of the bulbs determines how much electricity is consumed. These should be checked because there are some brands available that are just as bright as others that don’t use a lot of power.

3. If there is no one in the room, the lights and other appliances such as the computer must be turned off. This can help prevent overloads or short circuits from happening that may start a fire in the home.

4. Many households have washers and dryers. If the practice is to do the laundry every other day, perhaps doing this twice a week when the load is full is advisable. This can also save some money when paying for gallons of water used during the month.

5. The refrigerator and freezer should be defrosted and cleaned every 2 weeks. This prevents the ice from getting too thick which may cause this machine to break down.

6. People have to cook in order to eat. The person can try using range top burners instead of ovens that use up a lot of electricity.

7. People who live in cold climates need a heater to warm the home. A blanket can be use to wrap around it to lessen the power used inside and while taking a shower.

There are many things that people pay for when owning a home. The homeowner can monitor the electric bills the few past months and see if the steps taken has shown improvements when the next one arrives.

The above article was written by Sarah Miller on behalf of a buzzing online Kitchen and Bathroom Remodeling Contractors community where homeowners easily and painlessly find the right contractor for their home improvement projects and in turn, contractors can find the right Home Improvement Leads! Rod Stewart Grabs Fourth No.1 Album with New Release

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

Rod Stewart’s comeback rock release in eight years earned him his fourth No. 1 album on the US pop albums chart with 184,304 copies sold in the week, according Nielsen SoundScan data provided by the veteran rocker’s J Records label.

“Still the Same … Great American Rock Classics of Our Time” features Bob Seger-written title track, Bob Dylan’s “If Not For You” and Van Morrison’s “Crazy Love” — is Stewart’s first No. 1 rock album since 1979’s “Blondes Have More Fun.” His other chart-toppers were the Grammy-winning “Stardust … The Great American Songbook: Volume III” in 2004 and 1971’s “Every Picture Tells A Story.”

The previous week’s champ, goth-pop band Evanescence’s “The Open Door” slipped to No. 2 with 164,000 copies.

Billboard. Rapper Lloyd Banks’ second set, “Rotten Apples,” bowed at No. 3 with 143,000 units. His 2004 debut, “The Hunger for More,” debuted at No. 1.

Jimmy Buffett’s “Take the Weather With You” stands at the fourth spot of the Billboard 200 and No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart with 121,000 units. His 2004 release, “License To Chill,” debuted at No. 1 in 2004 with 239,000.

Tony Bennett’s “Duets: An American Classic” fell one place to No. 5 in its second week with 105,000 units.

Rod Stewart can be regarded as the rock generation’s heir to Sam Cooke. Like Cooke, Stewart delivers both romantic ballads and uptempo material with conviction and panache, and he sings in a warm, soulful rasp.

Before his notoriety as an international “Ladies Man” and football fanatic, Rod Stewart started his musical career as a credible artist.

After an unsuccessful apprenticeship with Brentford football club, Rod joined Long John Baldry’s group, The Hoochie Coochie Men, in 1964.

A year later and a name change to Steampacket, the band was supporting the Rolling Stones on tour. Rod had his first nationwide exposure when he joined the Jeff Beck Group, as lead vocalist, in 1966.

When the group disbanded, Rod Stewart joined The Faces, who quickly earned themselves a reputation of being a boozy, boisterous rock and roll band. For the next six years, Rod would run a parallel solo career, which drew critical acclaim for the warmth of his song writing style.

In 1971, the song ‘Maggie May’ was his first Number One hit internationally, and was later named as one of the ‘500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll’.

A bitter squabble with a tax collector sent rod Stewart packing to the glitzy Los Angeles a move which the singer underlined by the album title ‘Atlantic Crossing’ and the anthemic single ‘Sailing’.

The release of “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy” not only marked a turning point in Rod’s musical styles, it also sealed the singer’s image as a swaggering, preening ladies’ man with the tabloids. The critics turned on his more pop-sounding approach as a sell-out to that era’s disco trend.

His career came full circle in 1993 when he recorded Unplugged…and Seated for MTV’s “Unplugged” series, reuniting with his erstwhile collaborator, Ron Wood, for a run-through of vintage material.

In 1998, he recorded one of his strongest albums in years, When We Were the New Boys, which harked back to the rough-and-tumble rock of the Faces era while paying respect to newer acts who’d come along in their wake, such as Oasis, Graham Parker and Elvis Costello.

“Tonight’s the Night” marked Rod’s enduring appeal, at London’s Victoria Palace theatre, featuring many of Stewart’s biggest hits. Most recently, Rod has successfully concentrated on singing standards from the 1930s and 1940s for ‘The Great American Songbook’.

His interpretation of Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, the Gershwins and other great American songwriters may have met with mixed critical response, but it has been massively successful with the public. Great sales have resulted in two volumes so far, and a third will be released shortly.

Rod Stewart was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in January 19, 1994

at the ninth annual induction dinner.

Abundance

Friday, May 23rd, 2008

In order to have ‘more’ of anything (or everything) we need to stretch our boundaries and our imagination. I invite you to adopt Abundance rather than Prosperity as an idea, as this aligns you with the possibility of having so much more.

When you embrace and understand Abundance as inclusive of prosperity, having ‘more’ means having more financial freedom, greater wellbeing, relationships that enhance your life, and abundant opportunities for expanding your joyful expression. So begin by honouring the Abundance that is always readily available to you - your breath. It’s free, and life-giving. The breath infuses us with Life and creates an abundant flow as a life-giving stream. With awareness, we are able to draw more from the breath and, therefore, more from our lives. So I suggest you now take a few slow breaths as this will assist you to assimilate this bigger idea and anchor it deeply in your Being.

Infusing new information more deeply into your consciousness via the breath allows you to hold it more deeply. As you inhale, you enliven all your cells which expands your capacity to think. So - breathe, infuse, allow, use.

Then take a ‘wide-angle lens’ view of Abundance. This means speaking to your inner-knowing to support you to arrive at your understanding of Abundance which then paves the way for you to enjoy increasingly greater Abundance in every area of your life.

Abundance is the stage of integral wholeness where we are satiated with our own delight. It is the stage in our evolution as human beings where life ceases to be about external creation, and is about internal rapture - existing in an increasingly spacious container where we create worlds, within and without, that deeply nourish our spirit and make our hearts sing; where we live gloriously with ourselves and others. We are Abundant.

Abundance is not so much about what we have, but what we are and how we feel. When we live in ‘what is right with me and my world’ and not ‘what is wrong with me and my world’, we are beginning to awaken to this possibility. Appreciation for, rather than berating against, is an essential state of being we need to arrive at. Even the times that are challenging are gifts that we are able to harvest as great learning in order to gift ourselves with ‘more’ Abundance. Being awake to this core knowing is the essence of Abundance.

So, what does all this mean? When we recognise - or are willing to approach the possibility - that we are infinite, not as an oft-repeated hypothetical or ’spiritual’ idea that has lost its meaning, but in a very practical and demonstrable way, we know ‘I am the source of my experience’. Translated, this means that as I access my joy and inspiration continuously in the present, I create my Abundant Now and my Abundant Future.

Taking full responsibility for where you place your attention is a skill that is easy to develop. Being willing to notice the effect of your thoughts, is the key here. You may like to experiment with this for 5 minutes each a day. Just take the time to notice where you are placing your attention - what you are thinking about - and you will become aware of how you’re feeling: whether you are feeling increasingly vibrant, or whether you’re feeling depleted. You will then realise how much you may be keeping yourself restrained, tied to struggle of your own making.

This is where the magic happens: you now have the opportunity to play the game of increasing your Abundance, simply by changing where you place your attention.

Remember: You are your greatest asset. Really know that. Cultivating a wondrous and deeply appreciative relationship with yourself is the vehicle that carries you forward towards your Abundance. When you are filled with the joy of exploring ‘you’ in ever-deeper ways, you create ripples that turn to waves of glorious delight, Cultivating a relationship with yourself that is founded on ‘inner seeing’ and reflection, holding yourself with gentleness as you plant seeds of new possibilities, and being excited by the burgeoning possibilities and the joy that unfolds, creates the flow of Abundance.

Abundance is a flow of new inspiration. New inspiration nourishes our imagination, and sets our boundaries free. The more boundaries we dissolve, the more restrictions we let go of, the more we begin to stand in our self-determined freedom. In this way we ignite our increasing passion, which creates wonder and this feeds our genius. Living in our genius, rather than our ‘average’ and ‘good enough’, is the launching pad from which we establish Abundance as a living reality. It is only when we feel BIG, brimming over with our self-generated joy, deeply nourished from the inside, and standing in our now and offering this as our gift to ourselves, our world, our families and our friends, that - finally - Abundance will flow outward and inward in ever-increasing possibilities.

The wondrous state of Abundance is an internally generated state of celebration that flows as a river in its fullness (from you) towards Life. This imprint of fullness, inspiration and joy is inscribed and described within your being, and imprinted externally. The action completes itself - Life completes this action - and you receive Abundance as a realised state of living where you are amply rewarded.

Abundance is now the flow of giving and receiving, from within and without, that we continuously exchange. Abundance is experienced as a state of deep nourishment. There is a rising heart-swell that embraces all in its vastness and you are ‘more’ and ‘more’ is yours.

Share this ‘more’ and feel the swell of Abundance.

Puree the flesh of 2 mangoes (about 2 cups), stir 1 teaspoon of baking powder into 225g (2 cups) almond meal, and gently beat five eggs in a bowl. Combine all ingredients, pour into a greased cake tin and bake for about 1 hour at 180o C.

Cool 10 minutes before turning out.

It is my experience that the more I joyously share, the more flows back to me. So, I offer you this divine recipe that a friend offered me. Enjoy the gifts of Abundance, and feel the increasing swell of giving and receiving delight. Enjoy.

Getting the most out of each day

Friday, May 23rd, 2008

Over the past few weeks I have been in the grips of my own thought processes. I often wonder why I have made the choices I have made and how they have led me to this place. When I was a fulltime employee for a large corporation I can remember being so dissatisfied with myself and my work environment. It wasn’t that I had a bad job or that I worked with bad people but I still felt very unhappy with my circumstances. It wasn’t something I could place a finger on at the time but now looking back I have a better feel for why I felt so lost.

I didn’t stay in college and I have always held the belief that somehow I had limited myself because I was not willing to do the leg work required to be recognized as someone of importance. I’m not sure how a college degree would have made me a different person or if it really would have had any real effect on the person whom I have become.

I have always relied on self education. I have spent many years teaching myself through reading and researching topics that I find interesting. When I am focused on a topic I immerse myself into the subject matter as if it is the most important thing for me to be doing at that moment. My lack of a college degree has nothing to do with me being lazy or unguided. I have always felt that I am much better at guiding myself than any college instructor could do for me.

Now, when I look back on my corporate career I often think about the people I worked with. I remember how some of them were able to perform their daily tasks as if nothing were more important. They did their jobs without complaint and many of them seemed very happy to be in that place. At the time, I could not understand why I was so unhappy and yet the people around me did the exact same work as I did without any thought of unhappiness.

If I had simply decided to accept what I was doing then and placed the utmost important on my work maybe I would be a different person today. Many times people feel stuck or lost as I have felt. We hate our jobs or we feel like we need something else to make us whole and yet if we only realized that we are already whole then wouldn’t that make our current situations more tolerable? If we accept our current predicament and see the good in every situation, how could we not benefit from that sort of thinking?

I’m not saying we should just stop complaining and be happy because that doesn’t work. What I am suggesting is to realize that our current situations are only what they are because of our past choices. From this day forward we can choose to make the best of what seems to be the worst situation. By making a conscious choice to see our current dilemma’s in a new light, maybe we are taking a step in the right direction which will then lead us out of the darkness and into a life that is more abundant.

So if you’re unhappy with your current life situation, try looking at it from a different perspective. Many people would love to have the job you hate. Many people would love to have the house you live in or the car you drive. It’s not an easy task I know. Even to this day I struggle to keep an open mind. Just remember that the only real currency in life is each passing day. How we spend each day is a direct reflection of who we are and where we are going. Choose to live a happier existence and abundance will find you. If you live to be eighty years old you will have lived for 29,200 days. If you only had $29,200 for the rest of your life how would you spend it? Would you blow it all on things that will only give you temporary satisfaction or would you savor each dollar and get the most you could for it? Get the most out of each day and you will get the most out of life.

The Simpsons (Season 3) DVD Review

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

Originally a spin-off from a one-minute segment of The Tracy Ullman Show, The Simpsons morphed into the then-burgeoning FOX network’s most successful program. As the longest running animated television show in history, and the longest running prime-time show of any type, The Simpsons is an American treasure - a combination of humor, wit, and satire that examines not just the lives of its eccentric characters, but also the society, culture, and world in which we live. Fun for adults and children alike, The Simpsons is a cutting edge television comedy that, like Seinfeld, changed the television landscape in the 1990’s by creating a new genre of TV fun that spawned large network investments in new animated series such as King of the Hill, Futurama, and The Family Guy.

Like all new things which smash the paradigm of life, The Simpsons is unrivaled by its knockoffs, and the show doesn’t show signs of slowing down. If you haven’t yet visited Springfield, then I definitely recommend that you pick up The Simpsons DVD (Season 1) to catch a glimpse for yourself. You have no idea what you’ve been missing…

The Simpsons Season 3 DVD offers a number of hilarious episodes including the season premiere in which Homer’s co-workers have him committed after they mistake him for a mental patient. While in the New Bedlam Home for the Emotionally Interesting, Homer meets a tall, stocky white man who claims to be Michael Jackson. The Simpsons befriend the man who eventually admits to being bricklayer Leon Kompowsky… Other notable episodes include “When Flanders Failed” in which Ned Flanders opens a store at the local mall called the “Leftorium” (catering only to left-handed customers) and “Lisa’s Pony” in which Lisa’s overwhelming desire to have her own Pony nearly drives Homer to an early death as he works 24-hours-a-day to afford the expensive pet…

French Presidential Election: Nicolas Sarkozy’s Position On European Matters

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

The French presidential election drew a lot of ink this year not only in France but also abroad. The international press portrayed Mr. SARKOZY as being “the actor of a renewal for France, the carrier of changes which would not be without consequence for Europe and the rest of the World”. Even if the new French president was warmly congratulated by his European peers, they are still expectant of him on important matters such as the European constitution, Turkey’s European membership, the energy policy, etc…

The European constitution

After France’s and the Nederland’s rejection of the Constitution two years ago, the European Union Member states want to address the agenda and sign a new text by June 2009 at the latest. Nicolas Sarkozy proposes the adoption of a “simplified treaty” so that Europe can rapidly provide itself with the means to work efficiently with the 27 Member States. Nobody opposes this idea, yet deep differences exist. Great Britain, Poland and the Czech Republic are in favour of this project, only wishing for no large-scale institutional reforms. On the other hand, the 18 signatory countries of the constitution strongly desire to preserve its substance.

Energy policy

During the European Council last March, the European Union defined a set of objectives to limit greenhouse gas emissions. They now have to be translated into a set of laws. Nicolas Sarkozy is in favour of the development of renewable energies. He also wishes to renew the French nuclear fleet which partly guarantees the country’s energy autonomy. Nuclear management has always been a sensitive topic within the community.

Turkey

The membership negotiations have been partially frozen since December 2006. The French president opposes Turkey’s entry into the European Union, preferring to introduce a perspective of “privileged partnership” into the debate. This idea provokes strong controversy amongst the member states, some of which are in favour of Turkey’s membership within the coming 10 to 15 years.

The Agriculture budget

In principle, the Common Agricultural Policy must be the object of a reshuffle by 2009. The European agricultural reform essentially depends on the Doha Cycle negotiations within the World Trade Organisation. To summarise, the emerging countries require a lowering of customs rights and the end of the subsidised agriculture in the wealthy countries. The richer countries demand the opening of an industrial and service market by emerging countries. For the moment, no middle ground has been found and negotiations are at a stand still. On that matter, the French President is strongly holding his ground and wishes for a more protective Europe “at the service of growth and employment”.

In his discourse of 6 May 2007, Nicolas Sarkozy expressed his commitment to European construction and underlined his vision of a protective Europe ” against the threats contained by world changes”. He also called for the creation of a Mediterranean Union which would be the link between Europe and Africa.

How Email Lists Can Lead To Larger Online Incomes

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

Communicating with customers is the best way to persuade them to return to your web site and make a purchase. The easiest way to do this is to create an email list. With an email list, you can accomplish many things including:

* Repeat sales - it is much easier to sell items to those who have already used them and are satisfied with them.

* Trust and loyalty - many people are still unsure about purchasing items from the internet and only shop on select sites. Sending email and promotional alerts will persuade people to shop on your site. Once they have made a few purchases, you will have a customer for life.

* Branding - branding your product using a logo or slogan will help people recognize your product easily. Including your company logo in all email sent will help spread the word and create brand awareness as people can forward your email on to others.

* Newsletters - with an email list, you can send monthly newsletters that inform people about what is going on in your industry and your web site. Include sale items, new products, and other information that will entice customers to browse your site.

As you can see, the benefits and possibilities you create for your company by building an email list are many. This is a resource that will continue to grow as more people visit your web site.

Sign me up!

The biggest obstacle when creating an email list is getting people to sign up. While you can’t force people to sign up for email alerts, newsletters, and other items, you can persuade them in a variety of ways.

* Landing pages - This is a page that can be used to introduce your web site. Many internet business owners use this page to expand their email lists. Simply ask for email addresses before taking visitors to your site and you will be amazed by how quickly people will sign up.

You can choose to make this mandatory for entry to your web site or voluntary. Try both ways to see which is more successful.

* Advertising the newsletter - By simply adding a sign-up box on the pages of your web site asking if people want to sign up for your newsletter, your email list will grow. Make sure your box is easy to find and easy to use.

* Ordering pages - You can ask customers when they are placing an order if they want to receive alerts and other promotional items. Make it easy by having them click a box to sign-up. Since most companies need email addresses in case of order issues, all you need is the customer’s permission to send promotional items to their email address.

* Receipt confirmation pages - Ask a second time on the receipt confirmation email you send to customers. They may change their minds and want to sign-up.

Always include an opt-out option so customers will be able to remove themselves from your email list at any time. Add this to the bottom or your email.

Buying email lists

If you are having difficulty building an email list, you can always enter into a joint venture with other internet business owners or affiliate marketers. By sharing some of the profits earned from list sharing, you will be able to reach even more people, who may turn into customers.

Buying email lists outright from a list broker is another option. For a one time fee, you will have access to hundreds of potential customers. While most internet business owners build their own email lists over time, if you want to increase your sales quickly, investing in an email list may be the right decision for you.

Even though there are many forms of marketing on the internet, communicating directly with customers is still the best way to make a sale. Creating an email list or purchasing one will allow you to showcase new items, persuade more people to visit your site, and increase the number of return customers, which can have a huge impact on your bottom line.

The Real Cost Of Your Car

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

Owning a car is very expensive. The real expense involves much more than your purchase price, or monthly car payment. That makes up only about half of the average monthly car expense. The true cost of your car includes: First, your loan payment. A 5 year loan on a $20,000 car is approximately 400/month, dependent on your interest rate. Second, insurance (collision because of the loan) is typically between $75 to 200 per month (depending on where you live). Third, Gasoline at $3.00 per gallon and an average annual use of 15,000 miles per year, costs about $150 per month. Summer 2007 it would be more like $200 per month as gas is scheduled to be closer to $4.00 per gallon. Finally simple repairs (assuming $300 per year, which is conservative, even for a car under warranty), routine maintenance, and annual registration, all add up to another $60 per month. In all, neglecting the extra things you do to or for your car, the AVERAGE car costs between $685 and $860 a month. I won’t even start on owning a truck! In five years, you will have spent between $41,000 and $52,000 dollars for your car which is now worth closer to $4000 dollars. Do you feel you are getting the most for your money? Typically you do not have a choice in whether or not to drive, but you do have a choice in what you drive and how you drive.

So when shopping for your next car, consider the true cost of your car and what factors influence that cost. Owning the car you want is a luxury. A luxury most cannot afford, instead, decide what it is you need. Will you need four wheel drive? How many passengers will you be routinely carrying (how big is your family)? Also consider how long you want to keep the car as the number of passengers may change before you are ready for another car. Finally determine before shopping what you are willing to spend on a monthly basis for this car. Let this number determine the kind of car you buy and the price you are willing to pay, and if at all possible, buy used. There is nothing wrong with buying a new car, but if you are trying to reduce expenses, buy used. The intrinsic value of car is mostly independent of its age. As long as it can get you from one place to another it has value and the extent of that value depends on how long that car will continue to serve that purpose minus the maintenance expense to keep it serving. Any price above intrinsic value can be attributed to marketing and personal preference; values considered extrinsic. A new car comes with intrinsic value which will decay proportionately with use and abuse, though the vast majority a new car’s price is extrinsic and will decay independent of use at an exponential, meaning that they lose a percentage of their value each year. Until there is no value left. For example, if you buy a $20,000 car that depreciates 20% each year, after your first year the car is worth, $16,000, after the second year it is worth $12,800, then $10,240 its third year, and after 5 years, worth $6553. These numbers are just an illustration. The true depreciation of a car is quite a bit higher (about 28% each year). Typically after the third year, the price of a car starts to stabilize. If you want your car as new as possible and still have good value, buy it after 3 years. If you want as little depreciation as possible, wait until car is at least 6 years old. At this point, the car is old enough that much of the extrinsic value of the car has decayed away, but is still typically free from major physical wear.

You can gauge how much intrinsic value a car has by how much differences in mileage influence price. For example, if you had two cars of the same make, model, and year; If the first had 120,000 miles and sold for $10,000 while the other had 60,000 miles sold for $13,000; then, based on the selling prices, the intrinsic value of 60,000 miles is $3000. If the market perceives the average life of this car as 180,000 miles, then the first car’s intrinsic value is $3000, the second car’s intrinsic value is $6000, and a brand new car had an intrinsic value of about $9000 and an extrinsic value of $21,000 if bought new for $30,000.

Once you have a good gauge of intrinsic value, the next step is to determine what mileage range to buy. This depends on how long you intend to intend to keep the car for and your budget for maintenance. A car with higher miles may fit just as well within your time frame and cost less. For example, if a car model is not expected to last beyond 200,000 miles, and you want to own this car for over 5 years, then you should probably not buy a car with more than 125,000 miles. If you only intend to have the car for 2 years, you can get by with a higher mileage car and pay significantly less initially. The same rule also applies to warrantees. If the car’s warranty expires at 100,000 miles and you want to keep it at least 3 years, then you will probably want to buy a car with at most 65,000 miles.

This is a simplistic description of auto pricing as many other factors also influence price. In general, when looking for the right car, remember these three things: first, know exactly what you need; second, know how long you plan to keep it, and third, use not age determines value.

For Crying Out Loud!

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

There is a lot to be said about crying out loud with all your might. How often do you hear someone yelling a swear word when they are hurt? They don’t hold back; they just let it out along with the anger and frustration that accompanies the pain.

Well, do you know it’s alright to yell at God, too? In fact, He is waiting for you to tell Him your troubles. You may have grown up with a traditional mindset that all prayer must be done on your knees, with your hands folded, your head bent, and your voice down to a mere whisper.

I love the story of blind Bartimaeus. When Jesus was coming into the city of Jericho, there was a large crowd following Him and it was hard to get within earshot of Him. Bartimaeus figured out that the only way he had a chance to receive his healing was to yell. The more people told him to shut up, the louder he yelled. He did not care what others were thinking. His health and welfare were at stake here! He knew this may be his only chance to get this close to the Man “who healed all that were oppressed of the devil”. (1 Acts 10: 8)

Well, his strategy worked! Jesus heard him, commanded him to come near to Him and asked what He could do for him. As he got up, he threw off the shawl which by law all blind people had to wear. When Bartimaeus told Jesus that he would like to receive his sight, he was simply told: “Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole.” From that moment on he was blind no more! (Mark 10: 46-52)

Now all the people, including Jesus, knew by his garment that this man was blind. Bartimaeus may have just continued to sit there, hoping that Jesus would pass by, say a prayer, and heal him. He could have asked others to have mercy on him, taken him by the hand, and brought him to the Healer. Yet again, he might have thought to himself: “well, I was born this way; there must be a purpose for it. If the doctors cannot heal me, then maybe Jesus can’t, either.” He might also have told himself that all he needed to do was pray quietly.

There are times when in quiet, confident trust, you thank God in faith for your needs. If you ask anything in His Name, you shall receive it. (John 14:14) Even though He already knows what you’re going through, but he wants you to know that: “all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.” (Mat.21:22)

Just as it is to your advantage to yell out in order to be heard above the crowd, so it is good to cry out loud to God. Whenever you express a heartfelt cry to God, whether singing praises, or crying out in faith for your needs, you are making a declaration. You are giving notice to the devil that you refuse to listen to his defeatist whispers and that your hope is focused only on the Lord. Psalm 149: 5-9 declares that, if you know Him and praise Him out loud in faith, you can overcome those who persecute you and even change oppressive governments!

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and He shall direct thy paths.” (Prov. 3:5-6)

Personalised Car Number Plates - The Perfect Christmas Gift This Festive Season

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

Christmas is rapidly approaching and its time once again for the annual scramble to find a special present for loved ones and friends. How about this year giving a Christmas present that can be enjoyed everyday, for life, is incredibly personal and totally unique? Well if this sounds too good to be true then most people probably haven’t considered giving a personal number plate as a gift this festive season.

To coin an old saying “a number plate isn’t just for Christmas, it’s yours for life”. Car registrations can be enjoyed all year round and are easily transferable from vehicle to vehicle so whenever your upgrade your car, your number plate can go with you. Registration numbers can also be purchased on DVLA certificates so even if you don’t have a vehicle to put it on you can still secure that special registration today. A personal registration is the ideal gift for the motor mad enthusiast and will give their pride and joy (apart from you!) the finishing touch it deserves.

Before starting to search, one may ask “what makes a good number plate?” Name plates such as RO 55 (Ross), RU55 ELL (Russell) and surname plates such as BOO 77H (Booth) are highly sought after and are the ultimate indulgence when it comes to number plates. Many cheaper options can be found by searching for people’s initials or birthdays. To search for personalised number plates visit ( http://www.capeplates.co.uk/ ) to search on over 30 million vehicle registrations in the UK. Many people actually buy a matching pair of car registrations, A1 ABC and B1 ABC for example, which make the perfect gift for mums and dads or any other couple. Additionally, people can finish their gift off by adding a set of acrylic number plates to their order which can be customised with borders, badges and 3D text. They might find it tricky to disguise them under the tree but they complete the gift to perfection.

Car registrations make great investments as well and are one of the only aspects of motoring that actually goes up in value. A registration number bought today will be worth a lot more in years to come providing a nest egg for the future or a great family asset that can be passed on to younger generations. It’s wise to remember that once a registration is sold the chances of it returning to the market are slim so when you see the perfect one, its best to secure it before someone else does.

Private registrations are the ideal personal gift and are totally unique. Give your loved one a break from the norm and forget about giving books, board games and bottles of Bordeaux . A personal number plate is the perfect Christmas gift to give this festive season.
