Open Question: Is the biblical Garden of Eden origin of humans wrong?
Thursday, July 3rd, 2008i am a little worried that the biblical garden of eden origin of humans may be wrong. i hope christians, muslims or jews out there can help me see that the bible is right and what i found on the internet (see below) is wrong.
the origin of modern homo sapiens is not yet resolved. two extreme scenarios have been proposed.
multiregional hypothesis.
this one goes on about genetic intermixing and similar anatomical structures amongst modern humans and extinct homo erectus in the same regional areas.
out of africa hypothesis.
this one goes on about molecular biology, mutation rates of nuclear dna and mitochondrial dna in living human cells and calculations of the time of divergence from the common ancestor of all modern human populations yielding 200,000 years. the ancestral population is said to have existed a long time ago in africa.
both hypotheses suggest that humans have been around for 130,000 years.
this is confusing as it seems to contradict the bible.
